A unique opportunity came in the form of a project to create a desk for the library at a new technical college in Melbournes outer suburbs.
The desk has been carved out of a classic and iconic Australian car, the HQ Ute (Utility Vehicle)
The design was conceived with a kind of library desk meets star-wars vibe
Utilising a glass top hovering over the tray of the vehicle.
To create a stable working platform.
Note the unfortunate patch in the concrete slab where the power/data was miss-located.
Together with my father, an auto-body worker by trade, we transformed an old farm bomb into a piece of furniture.
Extensivly tested the ergonomics
Body work competed, and wheel arches infilled.
Ready for some showy paintwork.
Loaded for transit to site.
